The Belle Brigade has leapt onto the music scene with critical acclaim. The band features Ethan and Barbara Gruska, a brother and sister duo with smooth, harmonious vocals that harken back to Simon and Garfunkel and rockin’ up-beat tunes layered beneath witty, clever lyrics. 

     Born into a musically talented family that includes a producer and arranger father and Academy Award winning grandfather John Williams, there was little doubt as to what the Gruskas would pursue. A trained Jazz drummer, Barbara Gruska studied at Cal Arts performing with several other bands before joining with her brother Ethan.

    Both siblings are jovial and affable and when they are on stage, they play with an ease and presence that is typically only seen in veteran performers. Talking to them, it’s obvious that, having grown up around the music business, they have seen things from the inside out and are better armed than many artists releasing their first record. 

    Play Music City was glad to sit down with Barbara and Ethan Gruska at One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans where they were the opening act. Since the release of their self-titled debut album in April, 2011, The Belle Brigade has received wide spread praise for their tight, well written music. With a spot on the new Twilight soundtrack to come out November 2011 and their obvious talent and drive, it won’t be long before they are headlining shows and bands are lining up to be their opening act.
