With Control of Texas, Quiet Company Targets the U.S.

By: Tim Roberson

Austin, TX based Quiet Company formed in 2007 when front man Taylor Muse began recording side projects under the name. Craigslist helped to bring the band together, as Muse simply placed ads on the site and was lucky that talented people answered them. Thomas Blank, Matt Parmenter, and Jeff Weathers round out the foursome and all contributed to the debut album, Shine Honestly.

With this self produced album in hand, Quiet Company embarked on a U.S. tour that saw them traveling across the country, playing show after show. However, Muse realized they were killing themselves across the U.S. without a strong fan base back in their home state of Texas. In a rare move, the band stepped back from touring wide and focused strongly on the expanse that is the Lone Star State. A strong Texas following soon emerged, with Quiet Company now able to sell out shows across their home territory.

They released their second full length album in 2009, entitled Everyone You Love Will Be Happy Soon. Through hard work, it sold twice as many copies as the previous album and was met with critical success. An EP entitled, Songs for Staying In followed before their third full length album, We Are All Where We Belong hit in October of 2011.

With help from Grooveshark, the band has been playing across the country again and finding butts in seats. Play Music City sat down with Quiet Company in Pensacola, FL during DeLuna Fest.
