Like Candy Red
The lovely ladies of Like Candy Red grew up on the soulful sounds of Motown and R&B. From an early age, Bree, Lyndee, and Hailey Collier performed as a trio before any relatives and visitors who would listen. Their vocal harmonies are astonishing and come from their sibling symmetry and the long hours of practice that make their combination seem effortless. As they got older, they had the opportunity to perform along side their father in his band, The Sonny Joe Blues Band. They performed all the Motown and R&B greats at parties and weddings, and soon found themselves a coveted reception showcase.
Their brief brush with notoriety gave rise to a desire to display their talent for more than the wedding crowd. They are performers, and soon the band Collier was born. In this guise, they stuck to their roots. With a flare for entertainment, they crooned with perfect harmonies the soulful R&B classics on which they grew up. However, it wasn't until 2008 that Like Candy Red was born. The girls met the tight Detroit trio of Tom Michael, Todd Shay, and Brett Vargason. These Detroit based musicians made their way from the Motor City to the Music City. Here they connected with the Collier ladies and an instant stage chemistry was readily evident. With their Motown history, the trio of musicians quickly found themselves the perfect fit as the enticing siren's backing band.
The rhythm section of Vargason and Michael are always spot on and drive the performance forward, with the crowd always grooving along. Shay's guitar touches in all the right places, caressing the music in a way that accentuates the vocals, and where needed, powers across them. Together, the sextet, crafts songs about heartache and deep rooted emotion that speaks to the audience, drawing them into the well of strength, vulnerability, and power that is the ladies' vocal instrument.
It has been a very long time since the world has seen anything as unique as Like Candy Red. Their live performance is something to be seen. Ever changing lead vocals, dancing, eye candy from the girls and ear candy from the band make Like Candy Red a show to tell someone about. As the band themselves say, "If its undefinable but undeniable, then it must be Like Candy Red."
