Rose Elinor Dougall
Rose Elinor Dougall
Coming from Brighton, England, Rose Elinor Dougall made her debut in the spotlight during her years as an art student at the Camberwell College of Art. It was there that she appeared uncredited in a segment where she drew presenter James May, now of Top Gear fame, on an Etch-A-Sketch for his show, James May’s Top Toys.
Musically, she began her rise as a lead vocalist for the group, The Pipettes on their songs, “Judy” and “Dirty Mind.” It was here that the world was first introduced to Dougall’s sweet, smooth, and haunting vocals. During this time she also guested with acts such as The Young Playthings, Brakes, and Dr. Colossus. In April of 2008, it was announced that Dougall was leaving the Pipettes to pursue a solo career.
Her first release was "Another Version of Pop Song," this 7” single was very well received by fans and critics alike, giving her solo career an immediate, out of the gate boost. The second single to come along was "Start/Stop/Synchro." This track was again, very well received. It is a brilliant pop song with beautiful, crooning vocals and swelling crescendo that features layered keyboard tracks that lull the listener until the back beat kicks in and sweeps them away.
Dougall is a gifted crafter of pop music that tugs at the listener’s feelings as if they are being led by the hand into the ups and downs of Dougalls emotional imagination. As her notoriety spreads, Dougall is preparing to launch her awaited album, Without Why. Scheduled for release in 2010, it will feature her backing band the Distractions.
